Our school is unlike any other in Gaston County! At our Agile Learning Center, every day is different from the next, and each child learns their own way. We embrace technology and use non-Common Core curriculum to teach math and reading. We also teach social/emotional skills and life/career readiness. Professional therapists come on-site for special education services.
Admission is open to all children ages 3-15. Your child does not need a diagnosis to apply. The school does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status.
We strive to provide an affordable option for every child by having a sliding scale tuition. Sibling discounts are available. Homeschool families pay a per-day fee to attend activities.
Gastonia Freedom School encourages parents to apply for the Opportunity Scholarship, Disabilities Grant, and/or Education Savings Account offered by the state of North Carolina. These funds are available to low income students and those with disabilities (as defined by an IEP). If you homeschool, you may be reimbursed for expenses related to special education and technology use. Applications open at different times during the year. Visit the state’s website for more information.
Our school is hosted by Temple Baptist Church at 701 Littlejohn Street, Gastonia. Temple Baptist is dedicated to serving the West Gastonia community, and we are excited to partner with them. We will use their Kids Zone, gym, and baseball field as part of our school. Temple Baptist Church is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention; Gastonia Freedom School is a secular school that is open to all families regardless of religion, and students are free to participate in religious activities as they choose. For the 2018-2019 school year, we will not provide lunch or transportation.
